I am new to dirt bike riding in the area, I know Vancouver island well, but nothing on the mainland. I just got my kids dirt bikes and want an area that is easy for them to learn on. I have heard Stave Lake is a good bet.

I want to take them riding tomorrow, Sat morning.

I have googled like crazy but can not find specific direction on how to get to the dirt bike riding area of Stave Lake, I would really appreciate it very much if someone could post a google map link to the spot I need to go to , and any other tips on where to go when I get there. I have a small trailer and it will be the 3 of us. The kids are just getting used to a clutch, so I am looking for non technical trails and open spaces with minimal things to run into for a bit, lol.

You will be a life saver if I can get suggestions with details for direction tonight. I don't want to spend the day driving around with the trailer on their first day.

I look forward to hanging out here and learning more about local trails.

Thank you very much,

Dale

Hi Dale,
I am in the same boat.
My son is learning and I am wondering what you have found out?
Thanks

I know its an old post, but stay away from the flats on Stave with your kids. Usually a lot of drunks getting their trucks buried in the mud. Sylvester rd on the east side of Stave is good, its right off the lougheed hwy just outside Mission. A closer place thats good for learning would be triangle beach in Richmond, its behind the movie theaters and hockey rink at the end of no.6 rd. Follow triangle rd till you hit the river. Have fun teaching your kids.

Drunks everywhere, not safe for kids or humans in general. I went there once 7 years ago, did not unload my bike.

Look at this.... this will give you an idea.

Halfway down the thread pages are a couple pics of the area.. oh, and a bike thief.
