Hey all, nice to see an avalanche awareness forum on your site. My main bc activity is skiing. I used to do a lot of sledding, but these days it's mostly skiing. Therefor I spend a fair bit of time with my nose in snow pits and paying a lot of attention to conditions and weather. I enjoy avalanche discussion and learning from observations of others using the back country.

So anyway I came across this video on another site:

Play safe out there everyone!:)

Thanks for the welcome people :)

Did you notice where it triggered?

Right when he cut around that rock (where the snow pack was thin) He's lucky it fractured below him and didn't propagate up above him. If it would of cut out above him he would have been nailed by a wall and probably not rode out of it like he did.

I think that was in Wyoming they're they're dealing with a similar snow pack to ours (Kootenays). Although our snow pack has strengthened significantly in the last while, I'm still leary about unsupported convex slopes or ones with rock bands like in the video. If you do find that trigger (thin spot where you can hit that depth hoar/facet layer) she's probably gonna go big.
