Hey all,

At Frozen Pirate, we know that not everyone fits into our typical private course setup and we have just scheduled three "open" intake courses based out of the Valemount area.

These courses will consist of class sessions Friday and Saturday evenings, with the field day completed on the Sunday. This allows for a great break up of the heavy classroom information and also allows you to ride for a day while completing the full Avalanche Skills Training course in one weekend (which we are strong advocates of)

The schedules for these open courses are as follows. We will need a minimum of 6 participants to run each course.

December 16-18
January 20-22
February 10-12

We still have several openings for our private courses in January, February and March. So if you and your group are sitting on the fence, get off and get booking as these spaces are filling fast.

Our Early Bird rates are still in effect for anyone booking before November 1, 2016. This results in a $25 savings per participant.

FREE AVALANCHE TRAINING! ASA TO PAY FOR 100 MEMBERS TO GET THEIR AST TRAINING THIS SEASON

To help spread the message of the need for Avalanche Skills Training (AST) when heading into avalanche terrain, the ASA this coming season will reimburse 100 ASA members for taking and completing (classroom and field sessions) of an AST1 course this coming season.

To be eligible, ASA members must submit a copy of their current season ( 2016 – 17) ASA membership card and a certificate of completion of an AST course by a recognized (Avalanche Canada) AST provider. Members who took AST1 Classroom last season and are completing their field session during the coming season, will also be eligible.

The ASA will accept entries until January 30, 2017, after which 100, randomly selected, eligible members will be reimbursed the full cost of their course registration.

Please attach to this form a copy of your 2016 – 2017 ASA membership and a copy of your AST course completion certificate, and a receipt from the course provider.

Mail, email (with subject line AST Reimburse) or fax to the ASA office before January 30, 2017!

There is still room available in these courses and we still have openings for your private groups as well.

Give us a call to set up a custom course for you and your group!

Sorry for the delay. Typically we do private courses. Our winter is booking very quickly. If you were able to get a 4 or 5 friends together, we would be happy to put on an ast 2 for you or if others chime in, we would be able to arrange one for sure as long as we can work out a schedule that works for everyone.

Have to say thank you Curtis for a great weekend of training. Really enjoyed the way you have your course set up with the evening classes and the field day on Sunday. Been riding for 25 years and man was I humbled in my knowledge of terrain and my recovery skills. I am now confident that I can save my riding buddies if I need too and am also confident that anyone that has been trained by Frozen Pirates will dig me up if I make a horrible mistake in the back country. Don't be like me and wait so long to get your AST1 and get some training.
