been looking at the new sxs out there, currently have a 2008 ranger xp. want a new machine and for the price the prowler looks good. hard to justify the extra 5 grand or so to get a commander. like the polaris but would like to try something else. found some prowers 700 xtx for 12000 and they have powersteering. would like input from the arctic cat guys out there

nice vids, i built my ranger for the mud with snorkles and lift and planning to keep it for that just looking for a trail/family machine. the mud and water has taken the reliablility out of the polaris. still a good machine but want powersteering and bucket seats. i ride with some kawi's they are good too

Most unreliable pos I've ever owned. Spend the extra money and get anything else other than a prowler if you actually want to use your machine all summer rather than have it sitting in the shop.

I would have to disagree. I have the 1000 Prowler and not a lick of problems with it.

- does just over 100 kph even with the big wheel kit
- very smooth ride
-quiet
-price was right
cons
- polaris ranger way better in the mud
- stupid tin shields under the rockers are junk
-not enought ground clearance stock
have to give it a bit to see the reliablility but with a 4 year warranty not to worried and northgate honda is awesome to deal with

i agree the side rocker panels need some help for sure... go with accessory side guards... 0436-989
stock ground clearance is 12" ? i dont think anyone has more out of the box.. ?
we have had good luck with them and have 3 550 flatdeck prowlers we rent...that usually tells the story....

they say the ground clearance is twelve inches but i measure about 8, but that is with the cage and back seat in, going to look for a heavy set of springs for the back. made a custom roof to cover the four seat cage and already fabbed up some heavy duty skidplates will post pics in a bit

as for the heavy duty springs I have a hook up outside camrose and they have been installing QA1 adjustable shocks into these and other side by sides. The last one I seen was about $1000 for all 4 corners with springs and wow what a differance. they manufacture the cage ext's as well as complete replacement 4 seater cages that are a few inches lower. and began switching these automotive race car shocks into the machines to deal with the extra weight. The shocks shafts are substantially beefier as well. Just a thought for u.

big dawg i am interested in a couple for the back, the front sits nice even on the lightest setting. i know highlifter makes heavy duty springs but they only increase the rate by 100 pounds per pair not sure if that is enough

Was lucky enough to try to destroy a wildcat 1000 all weekend. What an amazing machine. If fun is your main factor, not utility, I would highly recomend this machine for a wicked ride.

dude in our group bent one bad enough to leave it on top of a mountain out in Grande Cache on the weekend. ran to GP on saturday and bought new parts, had it back down at camp before supper. steering rods are only 20 bucks each so he bought 4 of them....lol.
