Having issues with this quad. Wants to backfire on a quick opening of the throttle from idle. But if the choke is open just about 1/4 then it will not backfire. Any ideas as to what to look at?

It's running lean. You either have an air leak in your intake boot or your carb is partially plugged not allowing enough fuel. The older quads rubber fuel lines don't like the ethanol fuel we have now. Make sure you have good fuel flow from the petcock. I would start by replacing your fuel lines and installing an inline fuel filter. Then a good carb cleaning. The rubber deteriorates plugging everything up.

Thanks for the reply. Carb is clean. Completely pulled apart and cleaned everything. I will check the one fuel line that it does have. I replaced the petcock as old one had little flow. What about an intake leak? I guess if the fuel line is bad then I have to go back to a carb cleaning. Also this is a new to me quad so.....but that one fuel line looks actually newer.
