Looking to upgrade from my 570 sportsman to a 850 sportsman premium or 850 XT can am
Both look awesome and I’m having a hard time deciding between the two.

Looking for opinions from folks that have had both and which machine is a better build quality

They'll both take you to the bank if you ride them hard. I don't know about the 2019 Sportsmans, but over the past few years, Can Am seem to have significantly better build quality but are also fairly high maintenance. The thing that scared me the most about the Sportsman (2014) was that it had significant frame damage even though it was lady driven, never beaten up or rolled. In the end, the best way to choose is probably to find out which one you enjoy riding most.

So my experience.. I work with about 8 field ops that have various machines in the Fox Creek area. Lots of swamp and bogging. Hands down the Polaris is the smoothest riding best suspension however they are fragile. My 900xp I plan on doing breaks and wheel bearings every 1000 miles and I do not beat it it is my survival tool. I am not really a died in wool polaris guy just thought I'd try one for a change. In all honesty the can ams are more robust and last longer but they are more of a pain to work on. They all have there pro's and cons. Dealer servicing will break you its insane. Next time back to a can am I think.

I just had a look at the 650 XMR and I’m leaning that way

I will vote for the Polaris. The neighbour has a scrambler and beats the living sh!t out of it and it never breaks. But saying that both are great machines

That's a way better choice for sure, I love the rear axle design all the skeg just falls right out.
