I am looking at purchasing a 450 XCi Arctic Cat quad. Right to the point I guess.
Is this a good quad? Any major issues to watch for?
Is it a rebadged Kymco in A/C form? I read they look the same. Never heard of Kymco before.
How would it compare in performance and handling against a 500 Renegade, i think they should be similar in design?

Any info is much appreciated.

My dad has one, bought it for his wife, fun little quad, more suited for the ladies in my opinion though

It would actually be for my girlfriend so i like the comment and fact it is a fun little quad. That's kind of what we're after. We ride sparwood/fernie area and feel the 4x4 is a requirement when out there. Not alot of options in that category. I am actually leaning toward the 500 Renegade more and more, i've ridden the 800 Reny, wow, she doesn't need that much power for the type of ridding we do. I am mostly worried about the reliability of the A/C 450 if it is in fact a Kymco or some chinese product repackaged.

Thanks for all the comments btw.

No problem, there definitely isn't alot of them out there thats for sure but I think they are highly under rated. From what Ive seen of it it is a well built quad and definitely has a nice price tag. My dad had a pipe and after market tires on it and the one day I rode it I had a blast. I definitely would of liked more power but Im also 200+ lbs. The quad just isn't designed for someone like me more for smaller folks like women and children

I'm looking at one for my gf too. She isn't very big either so it seems like it might be a good choice. I can also get it for alot cheaper than even a used 500 Reny. Good reading in that article.

Tough to find info in other forums on this machine. And conflicting reports on how much of it is Kymco and how much is Cat. It sound like it's Kymco plastic and parts, the frame might be Kymco built beefier for Cat but the shocks and sway bars are Cat. Powerplant and geartrain I haven't been able to get solid info on-is it Cat or China? The article posted above suggests the 450i is a cat engine, others say it's not? Also the diffs may or may not be Cat as well and someone said it had a diff lock but I didn't see one when I looked at it unless it's like Can-Am locker. I dunno. For the price I don't think it would be any less of a machine than a Wolverine was or any less reliable than anything else.
How is Cat for warranty claims? Should a guy buy the extended or not. I have heard in the past their warranty is a joke-they like to call alot of the breakdowns due to abuse so they don't have to pay for it.

Ive never had any problems with AC warranty but alot of that has to do with a good dealer, they treat me pretty good at Don's. I do believe the motor is a cat motor, my Dad's has yet to have a problem but doesn't get bagged either
