Have a 16 M8000 limited 153 3" and find it geared a little low. Last couple years have not done a lot of riding since buying this sled, only have 200 kms.

Find it geared way too low, has anyone re-geared or better off to go to the 8 tooth drivers?

Anyone run a big bore kit? How was the reliability...thinking of maybe a supercharger but big $$$

Also what are you guys doing for suspension set ups? Which hole on the limiter strap, hole on tunnel, and shock set ups?

Thanks

8tooth gives about 10mph more in top speed, loads the motor now and it doesn't scream going down the trail

if your changing gearing lots belt drive is the way to go and a plus is less weight. as for 8t drivers like said above it gets really tight up on the cooler have heard a couple cases of early season and late season where a rock from the trail can take out the cooler. better off changing gearing easier to do aswell gets rid the the aluminum gear in there that wears out at about 1200-1500 miles and needs to be changed.

I just installed a speedwerx 925 and so far love it cant say on reliability on my own sled but have sold half a dozen or so at my old shop and never sold any pistons after the fact so must be a pretty great kit. supercharger is by far the way to go but about 10,000 Be time you get it here to Canada not to mention about 8-10 hours install from there is pull and go. we had a rider of ours running his at about 250 hp race gas mix and he raced it all season no motor issues. might have seen it at the sled show in years past.

Limiter strap i run mine all the way out the cats have a heavy front end to start and like to trench because of the attack angle of the track, having the limiter strap out takes some weight off the front end while keeping the front of the track more parallel to the snow keeping you on top a little better. rear hole i run in stock position same with front.

21/49 gearing with the stock drivers is about the same as 8 tooth driver with stock gearing ratio, cheapest and easiest. The best thing is to do the drop and roll with 8 tooth drivers most expensive and hardest, best mod you will do. Improved handling better attack angle completely different sled. As others have said you can install the 8 t drivers as is but it is tight. You don't get all the benefits of the D/R. I run the limiter all the way out and stock hole for the suspension, now the shock pressure can make that sled a trenching POS or a get up on the snow climbing machine. It is critical to adjust to your weight and riding style, they are a night and day difference when set up properly. There are a lot of threads on here about this. If your considering BB money really i would call up Specialty Sleds or who ever you like and have the D/R installed. It makes the sled more efficient and way easier to ride. That efficiency stays with you no matter the elevation. It also gives you the option of going Alpha if that interests you.
