Buyer Beware- 2018 clutch upgrade

I purchased a 2018 clutch upgrade kit from an online parts source. From everything I can see, from manufacturers date, part number and inspection I received a clutch that should have been recalled.

The only thing that appears different is inside the clutch there is a locking jam nut. The wing of the nut looks dramatically smaller than the new updated clutch. So I have a $700 piece of metal going into the metal bin and a lesson learned. Glad my 2016 clutch hadn't sold yet lol

So a short update, as I've had responses back tonight, and there will be a few calls tomorrow.

I'm told it is a bearing problem, not a jam nut. My part number appears as though it's active and good. Again, I'll know more tomorrow.

I still feel this is worth sharing. And I will post up whatever I find out, and hopefully a solid answer and part number to avoid. Strangely enough, even though I'm being told my part number should be good, it is a part number that was being replaced at a dealership today. But there could be a series of VIN numbers out there that they have no idea what bearing got put in.

You know I hate appearing uninformed (stupid, clueless etc. although you would think I should be used to that by now) but I was looking through your posts and really cannot say for certain that it is a Ski-doo clutch or something else. Can you humor me with what it is from? ​

OK. So it appears the only recall is on actual sleds with VIN numbers. There have not been any on the clutch itself. They had a limited run of bad bearings that were isolated to snowmbile builds. Arctic Cat changes the part number if anything changes, cover plate bolts, bushing material, spring rate etc. Your clutch should be just fine.
