M Series Hood Repair

Well, I managed to break off the tabs that the cables attach to that hold the hood from opening too far. I'm wondering if it is worth trying to somehow glue/epoxy these back on? Does anyone know what these hood are and what type of epoxy or glue would bond with it? Maybe some fiberglass cloth and epoxy?

If I can't get anything to hold I may have to look at attaching the cables at another location which may mean either shortening or lengthening the cables.

I dont have any pictures. I did the same thing years ago.
I used a piece of flat aluminum sheet on the top of the hood (painted to match) and bolted it to a piece of that perforated angle iron they use on garage door tracks. Samdwhiched the plastic inbetween.

Worked good
Didnt cost me anything

Napa has a 2 part epoxy system that I have used that works. Forget the name of it but it has a picture of a car on the label.

On one of my old M1000 I just put two bolts through the hood...never even noticed them after install.

I miss that clam-shell hood design...all my buddies riding Polaris used to put their gloves under there whenever we would stop for lunch.

I've used the plastic bumper repair stuff from Canadian Tire with good results.

Go for the two part epoxy--it will work!! Just clean up the pieces good first..

Well I cleaned everything up and roughened everything up with some sandpaper then used some JB Weld Plastic Weld epoxy. It doesn't look great but it seems to be holding. I had to re-drill the holes for the screws and proceeded to put the drill bit about 1/4" into my finger. I bleed good! I only got a couple drops on the garage floor before I managed to grab the dirtiest rag in site. Now, to re-mount the muff pot. I think I'll wear some gloves for that job!
