So I went to tighten the nut at the bottom of my steering column because of way to much play in the steering before it caught. Long story short my steering stop bracket is cracked in half from riding. I also cracked my servomotor mounting bracket which is just under the steering stop bracket. As far as I can figure I need to remove my airbox and bulkhead to get at both of these brackets to replace them. Me and my buddy can't seem to figure out how to get in there. Looks like a pain in the ass

Your post is kinda confusing, i think you mean "shock" bracket is cracked, is that correct?

My steering stop bracket is definitely cracked. Not entirely sure what the other bracket is called underneath the steering stop bracket. It looked like the servomotor bracket in the picture here It's hard to tell without taking apart the bulkhead from what I can tell. Might be shock the bracket.

Here is a . The remaining half of the steering stop bracket is on the left attached to the bulkhead. The other cracked bracket is below. Any thoughts on which bracket it is?

There's a sterling update kit. Looks like in the picture that your sled doesn't have it yet. I just did mine last weekend and it's actually not that hard to do. If you open the tie rod boot you'll be able to twist it around and get it out. You'll have to take off your can as well. There's ten rivets you'll have to drill out if your leaving the stop plate in. Nineteen rivets if your changing the whole piece. Only take a little over an hour to do the whole job. The update kit is about 35$ depending how well you know your parts guy.

I picked up the kit from the local dealer. Pretty good deal! The mechanic there said I'd have to take the throttle body off and then the air box to get at the reinforcement bracket. Did you change out both brackets, or just the steering stop bracket?

I just replaced the bottom one as well as the little piece with two rivets in it. One don't have to take the throttle bodies out or the air box. You can twist it around a it comes out the side just in front of the motor where the can sits. The top bracket was still good. Mine didn't crack as but as yours. It's only a few extra rivets if you are replacing both pieces. I have an extra kits in case it happens again. They were cheap enough and depending where you live can take two weeks to get one in. Sorry I didn't answer back sooner. Working nights out in the cold!!!
