I am looking at putting a 3 inch track on my M1000, going from the 2.25 power claw, and stock engine. Just got it going after fixing an electrical issue and can't bring myself to buy a new sled now that it is running great. Has anyone tried a 3 inch power claw? Also wondering about drivers, gearing and clutching changes. from what I have read some guys have gone to the 55/65 gears. I would think with the torque these machines put out it should not be a problem turning a 3 inch. The 2.25 is kinda more like a toboggan on the downhills and was hoping the 3 inch power claw didn't have the same tendency.

I have not tried a 3in on my 1000 but did install a 2.6 it was a huge difference. Way more than i would have thought. As far as the gearing I run 60/60 with no issues. The problem is the secondary clutch not the gearing. There are all kind of solutions out there for that.I have a stock eng but do have SLP exhaust again huge improvement.

I also have a 2016 with a 3in powered by the 800 it turns it good with a stock everything. The drivers are a 7 tooth with 19/50 gearing, I am installing 21/49 as I feel the stock gearing is to low.

Thanks, I do have an SLP pipe set, I am just running the can now. Tried the pipe and can a couple of years back and it seemed to pull pretty hard. It was kind of a guessing game with the BD box numbers as nobody seemed to have any for a 2010, I tried calling SLP but they couldn't help me out. It sometimes had a bog around 5000 rpm, and would clear out right away if I blipped the throttle, the plugs looked good but I was nervous of melting it down without EGT's or an air fuel guage, so I put the stock pipe back on.

I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone on a 2016, how do you like it so far?

I like the 16 it is very capable, there is a learning curve to it. I have been riding for 40 years and i am still learning it (270 miles) a young guy 2-3 days. The shock adjustment is critical on these machines and that is a bit of a challenge too as i am doing a lot of trial and error. For the M1K i would contact Eric @ Racin station he would be able to tell you if the mapping is different from 2009 to 2010.

Might be a late reply. I have put on a 3" on my M1000 it fits right in minor clutching change if any may be required. I have since change it to a Camso 2.8. Way better track in my opinion 100% better track. I too have an slp single set on mine and the mapping is totally different than a 2009. I had the porting done by Linderman so numbers probably different. I would check your exhaust valve cables for the bog might need set or replacement. If you take them of the servo and they feel like a zipper when you pull the cables replace them. Also check your primary clutch spider may be binding. These are issues I've already had. Good luck. Love my M1000 don't plan on selling her still shows up the young bucks and there 800's.
