    2010 m8 flashing volt

Just picked up a brand new m8 and was out on the break in run this weekend. Sled ran great except once in a while the gauge display would flash VOLT. When it did this the sled would stumble for a second and then clear up. This seemed to go away as I rode the sled more but I'm wondering if this is something to worry about.

I took the sled in on warranty and they could find nothing wrong with it. It would flash the code once in awhile for them, but every check they did on it passed. The dealer told me it was probably a fault in the speedo, but until it failed consistently there was nothing they could do. It still does it every once in a while but it doesn't seem to affect anything.

That is what I thought. Good to know and thanks for the reply. Heading back out tomorrow and will see if it keeps doing it or not, I noticed nothing in performance at all today. Will consider taking it in if it keeps flashing or anything changes.

There is a fail safe on these things that will reduce performance if the ecu senses too high of a voltage ..... cause it to go into limp mode. I was in my manual the other day and found a caution note (can't remember where exactly) that I dentified this....remember thinking it's a good thing I didn't remove both of my headlights as it was the one thing they mentioned as a cause of high voltage fail safe....maybe check your headlights..... as well one might want to concider going through all of ones electrical connectors to ensure they are dry, clean and greased (diaelectric)....just a thought.

I run an 2011 m8 and i have no headlights and have never had a problem with the volt code or going into limp mode and i have road about 300 miles like this and know of at least a few on here that do the same with the same outcome and we don't run the resistor that some people recommend.

Talked to the Cat mechanic and he said that it is likely either the voltage regulator or bad connection. I will take it in under warranty to be safe, would hate to have it wreck the ecu....it was running fine though and no limp mode that is for sure but will let you know when I get it in the shop next week. Hopefully a quick fix as I want to be in the mountains again next week!

    Re: 2010 m8 flashing volt

So I had my sled in the shop this week. The mechanic said it was a code for power valves or something and he re-routed some some pinched wires that are figured to be the problem. Ironically it would not flash volt in the shop on the screen. Doesnt sound like the voltage regulator is the issue when he looked at it.

Had the sled out today, again ran great and no issues. Was an epic day of powder and so much fun, and I looked down and again started to flash volt sometimes on the screen. Weird, nobody seems to know what this means and waiting to hear from Arctic Cat about it. At least there is no known issues at the moment and it is under warranty....who knows?

Did your eventually just stop flashing? Will advise if and when I hear from Cat about it. Gotta say though that my M8 is amazing in boondocking powder, wow so much fun today flicking it around!

    Re: 2010 m8 flashing volt

My sled still flashes it once in a while. My whole speedo quit working for about a minute last ride out, which leads me to think that my fault is still in the speedo. I just wish the damn thing would consistantly fail so I could get it fixed before warranty expires. When the mechanic checked my ecu for codes volt never showed up there. That's why he figured it was the speedo. Who knows?
