In them hills.
Typical insurance company will do whatever they can to wiggle out of a claim.

Long story short, popped an engine one month off the first year of warranty.
And it was hell.

In the end Cat (Neil Knaack) and the dealer stepped up.

Cat good willed me a engine.
Dealer has to eat the labour.
I was without a sled for 33 days and counting.
And some dick head at cornerstone probably gets a bonus.

My advice to anyone that bought a second hand cat sled is to get the warrenty transfer forum completed.

Extended Warranty feels like your giving cash away to a used car salesmen who pats you on the back and winks it would be more satisfying to burn that money. Anytime there first instinct is to try to get out of it tells me it’s garbage don’t buy it! Roll the dice with factory warranty and move on. I’m curious how many good stories come with the extended warranty on sleds and what brand it was.

Leave Cat out of it. Cornerstone is a fraud. My brother and I’ve had same trouble with Polaris sidexsides and cornerstone. We should all start a lawsuit

Why doesn't Cat and Polaris do the same as BRP and have their own extended warranty? A lot less hassle as you are dealing with the same people as you do with the regular manufacturer warranty. I know we used to have a financial broker at my store back in the day and they would try and sell an aftermarket warranty instead of the BRP/BEST. They could make a better commission they said. I told them after the first gong show dealing with them if they didn't start selling BEST they were out and another broker would be replacing them.

If u read the fine print with the brp half your sled isnt covered after the 1st year anyways. I beleave they would stand behind a motor but they pulled there warrenty from a budy with motor issues and no turbo or anything done yo the sled other then a can so any warrenty is dicey they do what they want

Sounds about right, what is the extended warranty worth these days? I never bought any on my sled

Holy crap thats a red tape nightmare. Good on your dealer for helping you out!

Since we are on the topic of warranty, snopro im curious now, it seems BRPs warranty is no where near as good as it was in the past. It used to be a bumper to bumper warranty, is doos extended warranties their warranty? Or is it a 3rd party?

Cat (Textron) should take some of the blame for endorsing this company to supply extended warranty on their product.

Read the fine print I guess. I bet the dealer didn’t even know that and started to worry they’d be on the hook for it all or have to deny the customer.

Good on them and Cat for doing the right thing.

Yes it is Caper. We deal with BRP on all claims for the 2nd,third and fourth years. You are right. At the start it was a bumper to bumper warranty. Now it is basically what the old Powertrain Plus warranty was that you could purchase. It covers engine, electronics and all drive components with the exception of wear items. They now call pretty much all the parts in a drive clutch wearable now so not overly happy with that. We recently were able to get a good customer of ours a new warranty motor and labor 2 months off warranty through them. The customer had lower mileage, no overheat codes or over revs and buys BRP oil so it was an open and shut claim which was nice. We had another guy that was just off warranty with an XM that had a cracked cylinder however he had 6 extreme overheat codes and a couple detonation codes that was denied goodwill. The rep said he wouldn't have been covered if he was still under warranty as they felt he had abused the engine. He was pizzed thinking we didn't try hard enough but the manufacturer has the final say and it was hard to argue with the ECU findings.

What’s the point in having all these safe guards built into the ECM as far as over heat , detonation , over rev and so on if it’s not a safe guard ??
Old boy that I sledded with always just started his Doo’s in the morning and walked into cabin and got dressed.
Sled warms up and shut down . He gets piles of miles on his equipment and no engine failures .
If he did it would be denied under BRP rules ?

It shuts down at 4 bars when it is idling.

Depends on the dealer. I had tons of codes on mine and they still put in a new motor for me on warranty. And I have a friend that was denied over a can.

Which IMO it shouldn’t be a problem if everything is stock as that’s why it was built that way .
As a protection ?

Extreme over heat codes is abuse. I know because I have had lots. Haha

It has over heat warnings first, then extreme over heat warnings after you've been over heating for miles already.
And if you keep going it shuts down.

I didn't ask for warranty on that motor. I paid the dealer to rebuild it because I knew it was my fault. Motor didn't even blow, but I had it rebuilt any ways because I need my junk to be reliable. (Cheaper to rebuild them before they gernade..) The 800 etec is bomb proof, don't try that with an 850 lol
