I figured I'd change my diamond drive fluid out. You know a 10 minute job. Ended up striping the threads out of the cover on the fill level plug. I pulled the cover off so I could re-tap it. (Need to pick up some metric helicoils).
I was able to re tap it and with a bit of silicone on the plug thread get the plug snug enough.
But in removing the cover the gasket broke. It is a thicker gasket. I'm wondering does that gasket act as a shim as well for setting the axial movement of the bearings? Or can I just silicone and go again?
