i was wondering if a 04 king cat is any good. person wants 2600 for it. i know it isnt season right now. i think it is carb. and he has a 20 to 50 hp nos on it. description says he put in new rings and pistons to. and i asked mileage. guess he never had the odometer on it but guessed around 3000. any input would be appreciated even tough i know it is off season right now

Good sleds but old technology, they ride like a buckboard but will get you over the top. They handle OK especially with the post forward mod. They weren't fuel injected until 2005 and most of them didn't have speedo or odometers on them. The cat 900 motor is reliable and there is a TON of aftermarket out there for them to make huge power. A lot of mod motors are still based off the 900 cats and can be found in everything from Rev chassis to Polaris Pro's. They are probably the cheapest good mountain sled on the used market right now.

I really like mine. It has an SLP pipe and quiet can on it and V-Force 3 reeds. I have put a Camo extreme on it also. The ride on the trail is not the smoothest, but that's not what is designed for. I ride the Rockies in Northern BC and it holds it's own against the newer iron. If it is in good condition, you will not regret buying it.

I have an '04 1M EFI 900 159" so it's pretty similar... I was told it would handle like a tank but It was not actually that bad when I took it for my first ever trip mtn sledding. I think it's one of the best machines you can get for that kind of price point. I prefer the m-series chassis now, just for flickability, but debating whether I should get rid of the 1M I still like it that much...

owned an 04 1M EFI 159" it had good power BUT was like riding a truck with square wheels. BUT ran flawless for me everytime and NEVER let me down ever. Loved it at the time :) and NO not very "flickable"

The only trouble mine has given me was a bent axle. I hit something under the snow, while climbing in Elkford,BC. With the axle bent, it blew out the plastic wheels and I had to be towed out. That was on a trip with a group of our online members. There are pictures of that on here somewhere. They are not too bad on fuel. I can ride all day on one tank. Plan on keeping it for a couple more years.
