View Full Version : CAC Avalanche Incident Photo Analysis

April 2nd, 2009, 09:31 AM
The Canadian Avalanche Centre is trying out a new way of communicating with backcountry travellers. Using photos of actual recent incidents and terrain, weather, snowpack, and avalanche data, we produced an Avalanche Incident Photo Analysis. This is currently in the form of a PDF document found on the main page of the CAC website at Welcome to avalanche.ca (http://www.avalanche.ca). You can access the document directly by clicking on this link:

We recognize certain data such as trigger, activity, location, etc. commonly found in this kind of analysis is not contained in this product. This is a pilot project and we are assessing public response before increasing the depth or breadth of analysis. If we can find the funding and resources, we hope to continue this initiative and will consider expanding it in the future.

If you have comments, suggestions, or questions about this initiative, contact Karl Klassen: kklassen@avalanche.ca.
