Heh ya'll ...

Lot's of threads of other issues with the Cat which is fine and not too bad... But am curious how the new motor is doing so far?
Reliability, any difference in power or snappier pickup etc?

Would be cool to track progress of new motor with some desc miles on it during the year here.
This is my first time ever being serious on here, please bare with me... This is not easy.

ive had great luck with my '20 ctec. 6 trips in so far. prior to riding i went through the machine with a fine toothed comb making sure the power valves, random bolts, springs siliconed, and other odds and ends were good. no issues over here.

I came off a '16 m8000 and have a 2020 alpha this year. Sled loaded up a bit during break in if you held a constant throttle for too long. But I absalutly love the new motor! Huge improment over the Suzuki. Defiantly more responsive and way better bottom end. I only have 8.8 hours on mine but I don't think there are any issues long term with the ctec.

I came off a 12 snopro to an 18 mountain cat and that c-tec so far is awesome. It holds 8100rpm all day in headlight deep powder, it’s good on fuel and oil. I love it.

I must say there is a big difference in the low end and med range tq compared to 2013 and 2010 I had. Got about 7 or 8 trips in so far and still going strong.

Did you find any problems? On mine the power valves were way off. The air box was good, only a small gap (I mean very small) where the lower meets the upper I doubt it could have ever got anything in there but I sealed it for piece of mind. I have pulled my hood after every ride and the air box is dry.

The bottom end is sputtery. Not crisp. Above 5500rpm it runs perfect. Gotten used to constantly burping the throttle to keep it clean. Would be nice to see a cleaner map. No complaints about it when your really on the throttle.

Mine is very irradic when cold (I'm wondering how much of that is actually cold belt?) but once warmed up its very snappy and throttle response is about the same as my 2019. I think after my new flash on my 2019 my 2020 is about the same. I notice it idles high after a pull and then idles down. I have 1100kms and no issues. Time will tell.

Update. They replaced the injectors and has stopped the overfueling.runs good now.

Does it still have an elevated idle after a hard pull? Mine will idle @2600 rpm for a few seconds 5-45 depending on the load before idle normalizes at 1750. Other than that it runs smooth and is crisp and clean. I geared mine down with a 18 tooth top gear and that also made the bottom end more responsive. It actually surprised me how much difference it made.

Yes still has an elevated idle.not nearly as high as before the injectors were replaced. Mine would idle high for a long time before the swapped injectors.

Its annoying as hell though, i hate shutting it down at high idle but im not sitting there for almost a minute waiting either
I've always let me sleds idle a bit after a long run or a pull so doesn't really bother me.

Ya me to but not a minute, 10-15 seconds no problem, sitting there for a solid minute idling at 2500 rpm is stupid

Mine on the original map idles down after 15-20sec I haven't had the new flash done.

The main purpose and reason your ECU would be programmed with an elevated idle after a run, especially a hard or WOT run would be for engine protection. The best interest of OEM and customer.
The program will allow extra fuel for an extended time period to help cool the pistons before shut down. When you shut a motor down a process called "Heat soak" takes place where the combustion chamber and piston crown can exceed a safe zone established by the engine manufacture depending on build tolerance. The higher(tighter) the performance the greater the risk, tighter the zone.
Tampering with the ECU to change this can be risky but safe if you know the risk and what your doing. Changing the octane to a higher one will lower combustion temperature but a higher octane fuel also has less energy and in an OEM engine design to run 91 you stand the chance of losing power.
Beware of aftermarket reprograms of ECU's, because it sounds good it doesn't mean it is, as any geek with a PC can crack an ECU and change its parameter's and market it to you.
It's done all the time with 100% false claims or at other detriment.
