Gotta be the first person I've heard say the bottom end on the 800 ctec is lazy, you still in break in mode? Because that will make a huge difference. Couple buddies I ride with have 850 doos and they were impressed with the snappy bottom and mid range, gets out of the hole and walks on their 850's every time, only thing the ctec lacks IMO is long legs at the top end, I think the Suzuki 800 had more WOT power

Bought it used out of Saskatchewan with 139 miles think it’s got 142 now just a short field rip I will put this clutch kit y pipe and can on this weekend and hit the field again for a test then to Valemount on the 29th changing chain case oil as well

I’m well aware of the hp difference between the doo 850 and the 800 alpha and know well the alpha is superior in the track skid and suspension area and gets up on the snow faster than the doos but low end grunt absolutely no comparison and I will stop here and not high Jack this thread it’s all good alphas are fun I wanted to try one after 8 yrs of dooin it and going to ride the ssshiz out of this alpha and have some fun with it and post some findings

The alpha is so easy to work on removed my hood only to find a sea of white soup in the intake box was sucking snow into intake gotta read back thru some good threads and seal this up

Be absolutely sure that the hood is seated properly into the intake. If you look at it when you are putting the hood back on, there is an obvious plastic lip on the hood, you need to align that inside the top of the intake. It can be installed with that lip outside the intake seal and you can still fasten the hood down, but them it will ingest snow.

Put some goodies on the alpha runs much better put 15miles on her it did seem to run pretty rich and a bit boggy before but warmed it up good and runs good now she smokes like 50 hippies on first start up this should clean up with some more seat time has a bit of a growl with the ssi can set shock at 70 front 70 mid 140 rear 250 lbs empty.... ok a few cheese burgers...ha ha

45- 50 in the fronts. Lays over easy. Put on 3 for the trail. Front track shock likes 65lbs or the drop n roll hits the tops of the whoops. I’m 240lb also. 135 in the rear shock. I spent some time farting around as the ride of the sled was terrible. I actually have it to where I’m pretty happy. I’d love to get a re-valve if I was keeping it

Thank will readjust tomorrow is there a quick reference or way to adjust track tension was told by one guy push center of track with 2 fingers as hard as you can and should be 2 inches gap..... I don’t have a special tension tool... what’s works any advice appreciated thx everyone for your advice

It's like 10 or 20 lbs. Of force pressing down near center of track, with your sled suspended... I just use a couple dumbbells, one on each side of A-beam ... And presto measure to I believe 3" slack... Someone, please confirm my #'s

Run it way tighter than that.

Track needs to be tight. I push with my thumb till it hurts. 3/4”. Max is good. if I’m riding And the track is loose I can Hear more from the clips while side hilling. Just Snug it a bit tipping the sled on its side. So easy as it’s always centred. Blue locktight is a good thing to put on the axle nut as they have come loose on some in the past.

The spec for the 20 from Cat is 2 inches of sag at 25 lbs of pull center of the rail. The 19 spec was 20 lbs of pull. I have adjusted mine a couple times already as the track stretches for the first little while. You definitely can hear the clips while sidehilling when its loose. I used a small scale to tension mine and the difference between to loose and adjusted right is hard to see with out the scale and tape measure. As far as the smoking part the break in is 6 hrs of extra oil and fuel. After that it should clean up.

I was close, I knew it was something like that... I was less lazy last year, actually looked up the factory spec, and set and ran mine at factory last year with no issues.

The alpha ran awesome today very happy with it and she rips only pulled 8100rpm all day took some weight out and try again tomorrow

The Rpm range is 8100-8200 on the C-Tec some guys swear that it works better at 8300. Mine is running 8150 -8200 seems good. Enjoy your sled!

I rode one down to the truck at Griffin. I thought Polaris was bad. I don't think that any more.

I have the 165 Alpha and a 19 Doo 175.

The cat will rail a corner that would have the doo off hell knows where in the bush...lol
Don't haven a Poo so no comment on that one.

Straight line through the whoops the doo is slightly more plush.
