I am working full time in FM now and am looking for a place to ride and not be hassled by the 50's, everyone up here has a quad it seems so I need some tips on where to ride a bike so I dont get stuck in 4' of mud. Any suggestions?

Depends on how far you want to travel if you head north of town 80 km on 63 you will hit a staging area that you can play for days, 80 foot wide winter road made of sand that goes further then u can go on a tank of gas, I've been up it about 110 km on quads, once you get up there theit are sand dunes that you can legaly ride on

I dont want to travel really far out of town, the closer the better, I will probably be by myself most of the time and dont need to get inot trouble way out in the bush. Just want somewhere close where I can have some fun and kill a couple hours waiting for night shift to start.

Hey teamgreen.....Don't want to be out of line here but NOT a good idea to ride alone. Take it for what it is.... Close or far.
I have got myself in a couple of near binds, Once on my own land.

The local mx track is just south of town on HWY 63, if the gate is closed you have to be a member to get a key. There are trails on airport road by the Rotary Club campground and by the skihill also. There are abandoned gravel pits on Northstar road at the top of supertest hill on the left, there are trails that go from the back of Gregoire to the skihill and from the back of Abasand to the river. Back of Thickwood/Timberlea has trails out the back heading west, best bet is to ask some of the locals you will be working with, there are trails everywhere up there. Oh yea, have insurance if leaving from town, lots of Mounties in McMurray.

Thanks for the advice, I dont want to set any records anywhere, just to put some hours on the bike this year as so far its about 2, I think I will head out towards Rotary Park as it is close and there is always somebody else there. I have seen quite a few "accidents" on quads and bikes do to the line of work I am in. Really I dont need to leave sight of my truck to do the little bit of playing that I want to do.

WOW, SNOCHUK.... I LIVED IN FORT MAC FOR YEARS WHEN I WAS A KID, AND I THINK I RODE ALL OF THOSE AREAS YOU MENTIONED ON MY DIRT BIKES(NO QUADS BACK THEN), EXCEPT FOR THE THE MX TRACK --- I'M SURE IT WASN'T THERE WHEN I WAS UP THERE. SOME OF THOSE NAMES/AREAS SURE BRING BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES. THANKS!!!;):p

sorry man gave up on the track riding, seem to have bad luck and smash subframes on the track, the dunes and trails are my terrain now, probably hit Bruderheim this saturday
