Out to the cougar patch this weekend. Had a blast. Needs to thaw a bit more. But the ice kept it interesting.

We were up on the 12th. Usually the first ride for our group every year, but with the late spring, we didn't go out until then.
Trails up high were in vg shape. not much for mud. The trail by the river was impassable due to ice flows up on shore so we didn't make the cabin at the top of the hill.

Looking for a place to ride this weekend, last minute planning. 2 guys on dirtbikes, is this trial a good choice? Any campgrounds nearby or possible by chance to camp at the staging area? Small holiday trailer.

Thanks!

The low trail is usually pretty muddy, but some of it would actually be easier on bike than a quad. While I'm not sure if you're allowed to camp in the staging area (which is pretty small), you probably wouldn't want to camp there anyway because the whole loop is only 36km and probably wouldn't occupy you for more than a couple of hours. ...would be a long way for you to travel for such a short trail.

100's of km of trails around lac sante... ..

I plan on taking the quads up with me to wifeys mothers cabin at Therien Lake a lot this summer

Where abouts near lac sante are these trails?

Are there any good trails closer to St Paul? I rode the Iron Horse trail but thats a pretty boring ride for the most part.

Dont need difficult trails, just something with a bit of mud here n there, not too hard where my 11 yr old couldnt follow us on his yamaha 125 atv

Thanks

There is a trail map on the the local snowmobile club website. It is at https://lakelandbreakers.com/map/ As far as being able to tell which is the high and low trails... It's been a few years since i was out there but i think there was a large map on a permanent sign at the staging area that distinguishes the high trail from the low trail.

Actually, it's quite easy to differentiate between the two. When the trail splits into high side and low side, the low side is the one closest to the river.

Here are some screen shots. Couldnt do it properly so old fashioned it is. If you have a garmin gps send me a message with an email address. I send you the map you download it into your garmin. Go to tracks and each track go onto and click "show on map"

WOW. Thanks for the great map shots.

I see there is a west staging and an east staging area.

Is there much difference between the two staging areas? (size/easy to unload etc)

I dont have a gps usint...usually just print maps and keep it with me on the quad haha

Was out there yesterday with 3 machines. Grand kids loved it (4 and 2). Mud holes weren’t as bad as I thought they would be with all of the rain that we’ve had. Definitely will be back there with the grand kids again.

Hey all,

do you need a trail pass to ride a atv or is the pass only needed for winter time sledding?
