I went up to the Cougar patch yesterday. The weather was great and the mud we came across gave us a little challenge. We saw no Cougars but did come upon a Bear, he took off before we could get our camera out. Check out the video we took on You Tube.

When we were unloading at the staging area an "old timer" on a quad came up from the trails and told us to stay on the upper trails because it had rained the night before. We stayed on the upper trail until we hit "Pete's cabin" then the trail is all one after that. We are definately heading back later in the month to try the lower trails. Thanks again for the map, it gave me piece of mind as it seemed we got lost for awhile and the map with all the cabins names helped us out. Here's just a few cabins that we came across, there's still another 3 or 4.

lower trail is alot more fun, some challange, me and a buddy took our rzrs out there today, quite a few people were there, we had a pretty good time, conquered a hole i busted two axles in this spring, then played in a swamp for a bit, got some video of that, then was in the swamp over my hood, and busted a rear axle! still finished the trail with a busted axle, was a good day, now I gotta fix for a few days......lol

Went out to the patch on the weekend and came across the trail grooming equipment. This stuff would put ski hill grooming equipment to shame...lol

Thanks any how. How come no one talks about the Rannach Provincial Grazing Reserve Recreational Access Map, that is in/for this area, like on the East side of the Staging area, and has a map of the trails, attached to the Grazing Access Map that runs between the Reserve and the River.(upper & lower trails), look for the blue trail lines. Oh by the way, did you get to do the Richardson Back Country ride yet.

Bruce.
Can anyone tell me how to get a side by side in there

Went to cougar patch yesterday, trails were beautiful, buried the rzr in the muskeg hole, had to repair both winches, pulled him out with 700 grizzly and made it out safe. Best riding we've been on in a long time

looks like you found a way in with a sidexside, i get my rzrxp in from the west end, its tight, tires wedge betweem posts but it will go, or go in from east end, opening is wider in the fence, just about time to go out there for a run again, been a couple months

Looks like a nice place to have fun and explore. Is it possible to camp on or near the trail area or staging location?

Headed there yesterday and had a hoot even though all the mud holes were dried up, but the low trail definitely looks like it would be a chit show in spring. There are a couple of ravines that are pretty hard to cross on the low trail but that was part of the fun. I ran into a local who belongs to the snowmobile club that maintain the area and he made sure to mention that ATV's are welcome winter or summer. Especially being as dry as it was, we burned through the 50km of trail pretty fast, but stopping to check out all of the cabins made the ride last a bit longer. I might check it out again in winter since some of those hills might be a blast to try with snow cover.

Any one been out to the Cougar patch lately? Haven't been in years and was thinking of going, but have a sxs now and was wondering if they still had that narrow gate at the staging area?

It's a pretty small staging area. Even if you found a place to random camp, there aren't enough trails out there to keep you busy for even a whole day.

Was out at the cougar patch for the first time today it was a good ride some mud, some hills, some fast stretches suggest it to anybody that hasn't been there before.p.s.If your riding anything wider then 50inch youwill have to offload over the fence its short no problem.
