I've been trying to find a place for my 10 year old son and I to go riding (dirt bike and side by side) while at our summer lake cabin but am having trouble finding an area near Carvel (closer to us) or Alberta Beach. I've been able to find a little information for a place called Stanger Hills but it is EXTREMELY outdated, mentions a strict 25 KM an hour trail speed limit and indicates you have to be a member to go there. While we are not racing around going top speed by any means, 25 km per hour seems INCREDIBLY slow. As we would be doing day trips as well, I would prefer not to have to drive hours to get there. We line in Calgary so I am used to hitting the MacLean Creek staging area in about 35 min. For all those who live in the area, where the heck do you all go?

Stanger hills is a nice staging area, we are currently installing washrooms and have just upgraded the fire pit area.

25km of multi-use trails are being added out there - not sure whether there is a formal speed limit, if there is it is not followed. We do ask that once groomed it is accessed by sled only.

The Lac St.Anne ATV club is the wheeled club that is in on this area with us.

There are also trails east of AB Beach RR30-ish that run N/S up to the stergeon river and south to Hells 1/2 acre ( not sure HHA is accessible anymore)

Power line & TCP is accessible along Hwy 16 in sections but not sure how much of it is accessible.

Thanks so much for the reply, I really appreciate it!! Do we have to be part of the ATV club to ride there? I read somewhere it was basically Mandan it it was the same article that said there were 25km speed limits.

As for the trails east of AB beach, are they worth it or should we just go to Stanger?

Not mandatory so long as you're legal (reg/insurance) but cheap to join the club $40 family annual. [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Geneva,sans-serif]https://lacsteanneatvclub.com/

What lake are you at? I'm at Wabamun and other than the power line and some pit's that are "not-legal" there is not much for riding area. I know that there is some riding out lake Isle way - did a bunch of quadding out there back in the day.

I’m at Jackfish Lake but I live in Calgary. We only spend the summer out there.

Thanks for the info, I suspect we will just stick with Stanger then as I don’t like riding in potentially “sketchy” areas. I’m used to MacLean Creek near our house. Anything else we need to know about the area? We are definitely 100% legal and will donate to the ATV club to help upkeep the trails
