That's sad to hear. This has rally has been somewhat iconic for as long as I can remember. Better luck next year!

I'm not sure in this case its all the government to blame...... they have been "improving" the processes for all Rally's and making stipulations on trails for rally's for the last 8-10 years at least.

The rules are simple, and guidelines are written in black and white (I'm not defending them) if you can't follow them you won't get your permits. With the Jamboree I deal with it every year.

Been to a couple rally’s. Not one had ANY sort of approval. First I’ve even ever heard of such a thing and I knew some of the organizers of all the events I attended.

Hmm, that's odd. By chance, were these rallies on reservations or in winter?

SnowandMud.com holds there own rally in Clearwater country and the process has gone through many upgrades over the last few years. There is an approval system in place and has been for several years. This is called a TFA through Alberta ESRD,
Environment and Sustainable Resource Development. This system has been in place for more than 7 years there now and has gotten tougher every year, TylerG filled out the application and dealt with them last season, and believe me he basically had to read a manual to figure out how to fill it out. And you have to have a basically dry rally with minimal impact to the environment, or it will cost someone. The organizers are held responsible for damages. If you have a good relationship and history with ESRD this makes the process a lot easier. I remember them coming down on me about 7 years ago and we almost had to cancel the jamboree. Now Snowandmud and TylerG have a good relationship in that area with ESRD which makes the process much easer to go through. Hats off to TylerG for all his good work with them.
