Good Day,

We are hoping to explore a couple new camping / riding areas this summer. I caught wind of the Ricinus area through a buddy, but none of us have ridden it yet. Can anybody share directions to a area we could random camp as well as ride? We are mostly a dirt bike group. What is the riding like? We are usually in a group of 2-4 trailers, with little ones that like to ride pit bikes close to camp.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Scott

Have you tried Quads.ca ? The page is BC based, might be kinda inactive till the season pics up.

Hi armascott. Ricinus. Do you think you might be talking about the Rig Street area. Some oil and gas facilities and such are referred to as Ricinus in the area west of Caroline. To the ATV community, this area is probably best known as Rig Street. If you are looking at Rig Street, that place is great for rough camping and dirt biking / quadding. At the Intersection of HWY 22 and HWY 54 (Sometimes referred to as HWY 591), head west for about 20 km's. Turn south at the Rig Street sign (A small oilfield road sign). Go south across two bridges and you are on right road. From there, you can camp anywhere. At the top of the hill, turn left and follow that road to the southeast. Anywhere you see a Sasquatch sign, you can random camp. There is more than enough riding in that area for many days of fun. Good open areas for the little guys to ride as well.

I was out there about 2 months ago and the entrance to the camping nodes was flooded. Not sure if it is open yet!? Also looks like they have some active logging just after the 2nd bridge.
