For those thinking of going to the falls long weekend might want to bring a snowblower to ride point. I took these Sunday at the bend just before the big X mudhole. I say X because AEP folks have filled it in and are building bridges. The date stamps are wrong. I didnt go to the lake but roads are good to staging area.

I was planning on exploring Ruby Falls in April, does anyone have any recent trail updates? I haven't been there since fall of 2015.
I'm hoping the muddy section on the cut line has been dealt with, it was getting pretty bad...

Thanks!

See my previous post. I wouldn't recommend going up till at least June. The mud hole just after the bend has been filled in. The Cardinal river will still be too high and fsat too cross.

Thanks for the reply! I'll keep that in mind. Plan is to ride it near the end of April, I'm thinking the snow pack should be low.

Ruby Falls Update:
Rode in from the south kiosk entrance (crossing cardinal river), we made it about 2.5km as per the GPS from the falls.
We stopped because the snowfall was more than 1.5 feet and it made it difficult while climbing some of the hills in the forest.
We drove 3 vehicles (4Runner, Toyota Pickup and a XJ Jeep). Some of the creek crossings were tricky with ice shelves at the edges.
Besides the fresh snow, the trail was easy to follow.
Pembina river road was in decent condition.

We tried to get to Ruby from the green bridge and road the Mackenzie creek trail but ran into Teck mining which they closed off the trail. We had to get permission to pass because we were not going to try clime the shale/rock wall coming out of the creek.

Trail mud holes were full of water and rivers were high and fast
Was a fantastic time and look forward to the next ride

Cool much appreciated. Is there any really bad mud holes. Probably be out that way middle of July.

There is but most holes are rock bottoms, had to winch a few times and had to ride around some.
End of July or later will be best, most mud holes should be fairly dry by then.

My friends and I are planning a trip to do Ruby Falls this weekend. How is the road in ? Some of us have large Motorhomes and plan on staying at the staging area, think we will have any problems getting in ?

Was there on August log and the road was in better shape than I'd ever seen it. Even so, it's still rough enough that you gotta take your time. We came if from Small Boy Camp, so I can't comment how the Pembina River Road is.

Thanks appreciate the feedback!

With all the rain we have got I was worried it would be washed right out.

Actually, I was very surprised that everything wasn't a swampy mess and the rivers/creeks were not that high. It appears a lot of this rain has completely missed Grave Flats.
