That’s some horrible luck Ryan! Hopefully you still have some Cat warranty left or she adds up quick!! Cat has been covering it if your still on cat warranty however if your into a aftermarket warranty they haven’t been covering this as they consider it a “wear item” cat really needs to step up here and resolve this issue

Clutch’s $1100 / $550
Belt gaurd $140
Belly pan $130
Short block $2300
Chopper $1000
————————-
Damages $5200

Hard to believe this is happening and no safety bulletin issued yet. Textron is walking a fine line.

Well technically there was a stop sale recall way back in 2017 but the issue was never resolved until next year 2022 when the new clutches come out...they just keep selling them and putting them on the snow and hoping they blow after the warranty is up and nobody gets killed. They are well aware they have 4 model years with exploding clutches out there.

Does anyone know if this issue is only with the 2018 and newer CTEC motor sleds...or does it also apply to the 2016-2017 sleds with the Suzuki motors and the Team clutches?

Belly pan was still good. One piece came through the side panel after it went through the belt guard. I watched it go in to orbit.

Engine might be ok. Visually the crank looked true while I spun it, but until he gets a dial indicator on there, won't know.

Chopper is going to be $1800+.

Did you contact Cat? Just curious. Cat needs some heat to make something happen. I have two 20 Hardcores, and I am terrified this is in my future.

I would let Cat know it just missed your head!

Engine is done sorry I have not seen one that didn’t fail within 500 miles after this happens. Most get replaced right away as the crank is out of spec the ones that are not out of spec fail within the first 500 miles after replacing the clutches. I wouldn’t even chance it. Just replace it...that one serious chopper bill

That's insult to injury right there with the engine.

Damn near could've been my head. I gave him a ski tug clutch side right before this. He made it five feet past me before she went Kaboom.

When i get home I'll be pulling my papers on it. Just incase I'm wrong and there is warranty (that would be nice)

Then either way, my dealer shut his doors so I'll give Central cycle a call on monday and see what they know. Take it from there.

Got me worried on the engines now.
So may look at trading it in. Who knows. Ive got to weigh some options and give it some thought.

Dawizman offered to put his clutches on it tomorrow get it up. And out.
Thought about it, its a wicked sweet offer. But should something happen and wreck one of his, well, that'll end his season too. And add a couple more clutches to my bill. Lol.

Yeah I would take it to a dealer and get them to submit a warranty claim regardless if you are in or out of warranty. Within all reality, it’s only a 3yr old sled, if you put up a big enough fight cat will warranty it out of good faith.

Shouldn’t be a problem to run another set of clutches on it to get it out, just take it real easy and hope that crank bearing/case holds up. Even if the crank bearing locks up or the case let’s go on the way out it shouldn’t damage the clutches in any way. I wouldn’t hesitate if it’s going to save you a couple g’s and the clutches are handy

Shes a full speed wide open climb to back into the riding area. From there itll be easy.

Curious to see if cat will do anything
