Since I got my 18 mountain Cat reflashed it would only pull 7800-7900 on a good climb. In December with headlight deep snow it would pull 8100. I know I can compensate with weights but is there anything else I could do? I was also using 94 octane fuel but that shouldn’t cause me to lose RPM. I don’t even have 1000km on the sled.

Had mine re-flashed, riding it this weekend for the first time.
Hope it isn't screwed. They said the flash would take care of the over oiling at idle.

Since i did the reflash it wont idle down for like 30 seconds, stays at 2400 rpm ish , also i lost top end rom as well, 7950 was best i could do. Put an ssi y pipe on and got all my rpm back without having to take weight out

What are you getting for peak RPM? I think it’s supposed to be 8250???

All the cats in our group were doing the same thing. PEFI flashed and they run great now and pull like freight trains.

Im getting 8250-8300 rpm all day now yep, exactly where it wants to be, gained about 300 rpm with the y pipe. I put a specialty belt drive on and did the reflash as per the recall before last season started and all last year i was pulling 7950 at elevation, sometimes 8000. I kinda attributed it to the belt drive being a touch taller gearing than stock chaincase ratio but im thinking now it was the re flash as i know a few guys who lost peak rpm with the flash. And now reading here others have had the same issue.

Im gonna talk with my buddy at my dealer about warranty with the reflash, still have 21 months left, if he gives me the go ahead ill probably go ahead with it. Usually he can make anything work

can be restored to factory flash prior going to dealership also. Not much help if one doesn’t live close to the PEFI dealer but it is an option of something major happened and warranty coverage was needed. Sleds in our group are on their second season now with just over 1000 miles since the flash and no issues.

Do other mods like y-pipe or head affect the map you install?

Would depend on Y pipe? None I know of yet have affected. Head I have no personal knowledge of that as all the ones I done were stock engines. I’d have to check with Sebastien to see if they tried with any heads.
