Nice build, Great posts and pic's E-Z. Keep them coming. I am very curious about the barcode set up. I was thinking about installing one on my sled.

It will work very well with your setup!! Might just be exactly what your looking for on that Viper. Can you imagine if your 174” Boost It Viper handles like an alpha!? Wammo!!! Pretty good bang for your buck here on this kit.

The CR front end for the nytro’s still to this day is the best mod you can do to a nytro and essentially this front end is the same concept. CR front end was 3” forward and this is 5” we all know what the 3” forward on the nytro did.

I forgot on to mention to everyone who has a 2020 make sure you check your retaining clip on your exhaust valve cables. I picked up my new clip yesterday. I thought I grabbed a pic of the clip on my sled but must have been when my phone was in dummy mode cause it’s not there anymore anyways here’s the recall. My sled was effected in the list of VINS for the recall however when I checked mine it was good? Nice and tight and even had a quality control pint marker check on it. I put my spare/upgraded clip in my tool bag for future use.

Oh and if your in there throw some heat tape on the cables!! Can’t remember who told me they did this but it was a great tip. Takes two seconds

It’s a pin that the dealers enter into the ECU to unlock the computer to enable use. Without the code you will only get a couple hours and the unit will go into limp mode it’s essentially an anti theft device. Cat has been using this method for several years now on basically every machine.

I was trying to get a pic of the 0KM / 0hrs as this machine has never been started other then at the factory for whatever quality control checks they do if any? Unfortunately my phone died as I was unlocking the ECU and was setting everything up, that and I dropped it into the snow. can’t believe how much these sleds vibrate at idle!!

I encourage everyone to get to know there ECU on this sled. This gauge has many features that you can go in and setup. I set mine all up yesterday. I was able to go in and add actual numbers to the bars for temps etc. The ECU will allow you to go into the diagnostics menu as well and do random checks on your machine, it’s a really cool gauge. It will give you TPS values, and many other values.

I guess I should buy a service manual for this thing to learn how to get into these features and change them. And fix the rest of the machine?

I can only find a owners manual not the same as a service manual? Maybe i am looking in the wrong place.


edit; I was not looking hard enough i did find the service manual but no 2020 yet. Thanks for the info.

This my friends not only moves the front end of the sled up 1.5” but also moves the skis 5” forward. Pretty pumped to try this kit out

Why did you decide to use Barcode as opposed to other options? I am not familiar with A -arm parts makers.

Great question! Long answer

Ice age - lifts the front end of the sled 2.0” by adding a stronger heavy duty longer very expensive CNC cut spindle. Uses stock A Arms or upgrade to another manufacture Billet A arms at an additional cost. This kit remounts the rear skid to the bottom hole and puts the rear in the bottom hole, overall effect is 2” taller throughout the entire sled, results equal getting on snow easier and center of gravity allows sled to roll over easier. Excellent marketing by Nick, great company that I have supported for years

BDX - just recently heard this kit does lift the sled slightly but no mention of that on their website? Looks really cool but no real benefit other then stronger and lighter, less drag in the snow by using a shorter spindle, uses the ZBROZ high clearance Lower A arms, awesome A arms have used them for years, billet uppers, and a bunch of other parts to convert your sled over from the old spindle design to the new geometry 2016+ essentially this kit is an alternative from the cat kit to convert your old sled over to the new geometry, newly designed longer spindle should be available very soon to move sled up 1.5” to match ice age design.
$1200 plus shipping

The way I see it is with the Barcode kit your hitting 3 birds with one stone, you are upgrading your stock a arms to stronger chromoly, you can buy a single replacement a arm to keep in the truck as a spare and use on either side. You are moving the sled up 1.5” which will do the same thing as the ice age kit and the new BDX kit when it becomes available. Lastly you are moving the skis 5” forward which in my personal opinion is HUGE, especially on the Alpha. Moving the skis forward on this chassis in combination with the skid geometry changes and 1.5” lift is going to balance the sled out, the alpha is tippy on the back end but still pretty stable on the front. Cat put the alpha in the rear skid on a chassis that was designed behind a twin rail setup and made no geometry changes to compliment the single beam rail. I ride trees and tight technical terrain. I ride on my panels most of the time, this kit will make the sled super tippy on the front end, by moving the skis forward this should eliminate any washing out of the rear skid as well, sharper turning radius and having the skis more forward will allow for a steeper side hill, and reduce washout with all of the other mentioned benefits it’s a pretty good bang for your buck!

Great explanation on all 3 kits Ez! Makes it easier for someone on the fence to determine which kit they want to go with and even better there is a couple guys on this thread running the Bdx kit when it release, the barcode kit (which i was considering before i decided on the elevate) and the ice age kit.

Will be good to get reviews on all 3 kits!

Not really any updates...I worked right up until Christmas with my construction company and have been on holidays since. Won’t be until after the new year before I get it out. Still have a few more parts to put on and working on a new product that I think everyone will want to have!? Can’t believe that I haven’t thought of making it before!?

Still need to get it on the dyno to test the HP goodies that are going in as well. The Barcode kit won’t be going on until after I ride the sled and get a baseline. Shocks are at Nextech for valving changes, and need to figure out a new spring for the front track shock still?

Lots left to do, snowpack is finally getting to an adequate level so I guess I better get on it!!

Still need to get it on the dyno to test the HP goodies that are going in as well. The Barcode kit won’t be going on until after I ride the sled and get a baseline. Shocks are at Nextech for valving changes, and need to figure out a new spring for the front track shock still?

Lots left to do, snowpack is finally getting to an adequate level so I guess I better get on it!!

Tyler should have the fox spring now. He figured he would by Xmas when I sent mine to him so hopefully he does and I get one on my front shock first of next month.

Lemme know when you are heading up to Powderfreaks dyno. I have a Speedwerx pipe I want to try and you can try it too if you want. We can meet there. It’s for a 2019 so I don’t know if it will work on a 2020.

I had a few guys message me about how I mounted the BCA bag with the LINQ and if I could post up a few more pics. I just cut some plates, sprayed them black, mounted the linq adapters to the plates and made some little plastic washers to go underneath for proper height, drilled through the tunnel and used washers on the inside of the tunnel. Nice and clean and was relatively inexpensive.
