I have been told nothing sticks properly to UHMW.

Anything is better then nothing! Snow ingestion is a real thing on this motor with this hood and intake design. I didn’t have any issues with the right stuff sticking to the UHMW It worked quite well. It doesn’t need to hold any strength and it won’t be fatigued in any way so it should hold up. Main and only purpose is just to seal it from the fine whites getting inside. I’ve used this stuff lots before on all kinds of UHMW to seal snow out and it works very well.

What product did you use to paint the chain case cover?

Everything was done at Liquid Venom Hydrographic’s in Kelowna. It’s a special 3 stage Automotive paint. The pictures don’t really do it any justice. It’s crazy bright. Turned out awesome

Now that I see there is all that foam and **** inside the plenum, I too have a big job ahead of me.

I put heat tape on my exhaust valve cables as the last set started to stick due to melting.

Something to look at.

Thanks! Not a bad idea at all. I will put some on next time I’m working on her.

I found an air driven hacksaw blade worked the best to cut the plastic channels out. Then a die grinder, de-burring tool and scotch bright/emery all by hand afterwards. It’s a messy job. Original plan was to take it right down flush but I left a little bit just cause it got so time consuming, and really wouldn’t have made a difference if it was flush or not.

Just a thought Eric, seeing as it's a speed density system, the air flow would be calibrated in the map, and opened up it might under fuel now??

I know from my old wedge I had that had pods, put the stock air box in it and was way better sled as far as jetting, power and response

Cats don’t have a mass airflow sensor, the reason why the airbox worked in the wedge vs the air pods was because the pods would suck hot air from under the hood it was inconsistent temperatures, with the airbox installed it would pull in cold air from the top of the hood through the screens. What did work really well on the old wedges/edges was gutting the airbox/removing the shelf.

This isn’t an experiment. I have done this before and it works really good. It’s a very unique sound as well. This will make some serious intake noise, it’s like buying a slurpee at 7-11 and using a fountain pop straw, then switching to the big slurpee straw, much better

Yes but there is no MAF sensor in the intake, only a temp sensor

There isn’t really a kit to build here. It’s just a bunch of manual labor to seal it all up properly. A guy could sell an already sealed airbox/hood I suppose, a drop in kind of type thing for guys that wanted to switch there’s out but the intake pieces of the hood are quite expensive and I can’t really see it being a big seller as the price would be ridiculous and so would shipping, and it’s very labour intensive to take your stock hood apart to switch it out for a sealed one. It should just come from the factory sealed up 100%

Speed density systems don’t actually measure air flow rates, and the channels are not for flow, they are simply for sound dampening

Isn’t this pretty much what BDX has done with the Prolites ?

But there engineered with a air flow calibration when the fuel map is made, and now ya changed that

Just saying that a system without a maf has no idea of the air flow change and doesn't adjust

Hate for ya to blow up another engine

Kind of but not really, same idea/theory but different ways of doing it BDX uses the outside shell of the intake/hood, cuts a bunch of holes in it and then puts frog skin over it. They remove the plenum all together with and then pull air from the nose portion rather then the upper screen area. They claim it’s a 9lbs weight loss, I will have to agree on the weight loss as I figured an easy 5lbs with my mod, I could see another 4lbs with completely removing the plenum but I’ll take the 4lbs and draw the cold air from the stock location rather then pull from the nose cone
