K mod is evolving day by day. originally the mounting locations were in specific areas, no he is giving multiple mounting locations as per what kind of end result your looking for as well and shortening the shocks and changing the location on the coupling block by 1/4 inch. The coupling block itself is also different. big changes, all with different riding characteristics. That redline skid is not only a direct knock off of kmod, but i seen one break at the welds on the rear arm. Although i do gotta say he got the rear drop bracket stiffeners on the head, we have to build custom drop brackets for our k mods to withstand the abuse that is one area k mod could use some work on. good thing my tig skills are on point lol.
Backwoods BMP rear bumper would be a good choice to stiffen the tunnel when using these skids. 1/4” thick and wraps around the running board bracket in that weak area. Learned that the hard way also. Had a baker skid on my M7 and it taco’d coming out of Keystone on those 3’ whoops.

They are all ripoff's really - CR racing first did the M-10 skid like 20years ago and teamed together with a CR racing tunnel also had the option of multiple mounting locations - really the kmod isn't elvolving it's just getting closer to a CR racing skid

And where do you think Cr got their design from? Fast m10 was the original aftermarket suspension.

Well there Ya go - I just got schooled - team fast did the m-10 first I didn't know that - thought it was CR - I've got a CR m-10 skid in my kingcat and it had a fox Sub-Zero centre shock that could've been used as a front strut in a car - took it out and weighed it - 12.4 lbs - thought it was the first one ever built by the look of that shock - put a fox air shock in there now and shed 9lbs

In the early 2000s you could snow check a short track Polaris with a fast m10 skid.
That's sweet - I just went on the fast website - I can get all the replacement parts I need for my cr skid because it's an identical skid had no idea it's crazy

It appears the m10 and cr skid, along with your baker skid all share the some common thing. they are permanently coupled with a slight bit of travel allowance before it hits the bump stop milled into the rails. The k mod works on a completely different level which of course allows it to be ran coupled 100% or not at all until redline came out with theirs Kmod was the only skid to operate like this. easyride was same concept but non coupling, so to say it was a rip off is incorrect and to say its non evolving is also incorrect, to say its getting close to a CR, m10, etc is also incorrect. Schooled twice by one of them guys with the custom no beak helmets? somethin like that anyways...

Welp on the kmod it has a rear arm that has a Hinge point at the bottom that you can lock out or not - to me it seems like a gimmick - if a person had a kmod skid guaranteed your gonna find a setting you like in the mountains and leave it alone after that - the baker and the team fast and the cr racing skid have the rear arm on plastic pucks that let it slide instead of a Arctic cat stock looking Hinge setup - nice thing about the puck design is it doesn't require you to purchase a fancy $400 attachment called k motion to let it articulate side to side - personally I think the kmod would be the skid to have if you wanted to do grass drags with a helmet with no beak - whatever setup a person goes with it's personal preference - I've heard the alpha one washes out but I've also heard you have to learn how to ride it and some people don't take the time to learn how to handle it before they get rid of it - skids can be a struggle tho - I've had to put custom washers in my baker to limit the amount of articulated motion it has because it was rubbing in the top of the tunnel really bad - I called it the Y-motion as in why? Is their so much motion - I'm not gonna come on here and be like baker is the best by far - some people wanna side hill with an Arctic cat style locked in solid skid and others like to side hill with a k motion or a t motion or a why is there so much motion type skid - I could jam a bolt in my polyurethane sliders at the back and say it's elvoving too - the only skid elvolving is the alpha one - if they find a way to make it out of titanium for cheap and put an airbag at the front of it that will be the elvolving skid to have - we should start a new thread called kmod skid is the best prove me wrong

I went to a camoplast 9104m, 154", 2.5" lug height, 2.86 pitch, single ply. I wouldn't ever do a 154" in the mountains but the Paragon performs like there is 18" more track. The track has a center port but I don't use it. No cutting windows but I did get Camoplast removed every second clip, install the clips where there are two paddles and put the clips with side guides every 6th one for weight savings. Track weighs 53lbs.
I changed the drivers to Powderfreaks 8 tooth 2.86 pitch.

Nice build. Im curious as to why you went away from the 3.5” pitch track? In my testing of the alpha and the 2019 mtn cat, the alpha had way more traction out of the hole. That track hooks up. I know a guy looking for a alpha track Kane to try on his G4 if you still have it?

Holy man I got a bad memory. I don’t remember starting this thread. I have been working on the sled in the last week.
I went away from the 3.5” pitch to a 2.5” 2.86pitch because I wanted less resistance and more track speed. This was built as a springtime sled but so far, I’m thinking it might an all year sled. I can overcome the loss of traction of the 3” lugs 3.5” pitch track with the best clutching and gearing in mountain history. Hard to believe, yes. You have to see it to believe it. $500 friendly wager to any to any n/a 155 that can beat this sled. I will collect footage this year of the annhilation of Turbo’s and egos. There will be tears. Bahahahaha.
The track, drivers and mono skid are sold. The guy was soooo happy as the skids were hard to find. He held the skid in his arms like it was a new baby. So fin to bring joy to other Sledders!

Checking the clutches for full shift out and deflection. She needs a bit of masssaging. Finding the correct belt size takes some brain power, time and effort. All of which I’m short of. This is a Polaris p85 with a Paragon secondary. The Cat belt doesn’t come up fully on the p85 on full shift out. I have to machine the primary a hair, find a wider belt or possibly shorter belt and live with it. The center to center is fixed so belt options may be limited. Such is life. No biggie.
With the super low gearing 22/72(3.27)the sled will hit full shift out and go into over rev often so its critical that the clutches and belt are in perfect harmonious harmony.
Update-problem solved. Belt too long. Changed out to a 1/2” shorter belt. Primary may need 1/16” more sheave squishage. Not bad at all.

The belt I tried is a 0627-049. I’m gonna return them and use a 0627-083. I think the Alpha stock one is a 0627-111.
I do have two stock Alpha belts 0627-111 belts. Great question. That was a long winded answer so it looks like I have 2or3 spare Alpha belts. 2 new and one used. You want to purchase? U get dibs cuz I wouldn’t have thought about selling them.

I would like to put my turbo up against your clutching masterpiece and see how well it performs

Haha that makes two of us!!!! I think you will spin out and wheelie while I enjoy traction and blow by you. But once you gain speed, unstoppable turbo hp kicks in, you will get on top of the snow you will blow by me. Kinda like we take turns blowing by each other.
