What happened there? How many km on that thing?
2400km.
We are guessing the crank bearing let go first, but tough to tell not much left.

Not sure if it had anything to do with it but this was the first time ever running fuel from Esso through it.

Did it start acting up at all that day? 2400 km not good, almost there myself lol

Sorta looks like it detonated and seize then came apart? Or like you say let go on the bottom and piceces smashed on the piston. The scufffing on the piston sure looks like it was tight at one time.

Not sure, I was doing 115km/hr (8300 RPM) across my field when she let go.
Elevation 2200FT.

Skidded the track for split second, then a big bang and then it free wheeled till it came to a complete stop.

Scuffing could be from the large chunks of cylinder sleeve that broke off.

Got a call from Cat maybe 1/2hr after the warranty claim went in. They are sending out an inspector for a colonoscopy.

See how this goes.

Poor fuel , lower elevation and detonated ?
Nice clear day and colder out ?
Be interesting to see what they have to say ?
Complete long block though .

That’s one thing with the HO zuke engines say require 91 octane but I’ve always ran 87 fuel and never had an issue at 2200 ft home. Never had a Deto code.

thats about the same mileage as the couple guys we ride with when there's went
new long blocks for them as well
and top notch dealer supplied free demo while they were down

oh man i hope this is not an actual issue for this motor, because im so impressed with this alpha, but if we are having motors fail with low k that would be a deal breaker for me.

Out of the 2016 service manual " If a situation arises in which 91 octane gasoline is not available, 87 octane gasoline can be substituted; however, do not prolong the usage of 87 octane gasoline as it will cause poor engine performance"

So I was reading through the service manual on engine replacement.

All pretty straight forward.

Fill the crank case half full of CTEC2......

Is there not a way to reset the break-in mode?

Do they fill the crank half full from new?

Should a guy be doing that over winter? Or just fogging?
