Hey everyone,

I bought a brand new early release m8000 this year and took it out for a quick ride today. I was reading that on the new ctec that a 6500 rpm limit was stage 1 of the break in. I did not have that, I was able to get over 6500 rpm right off the hop. I heard somewhere the the early release didnt have the limiter but im not sure if this is true. Wondering if anyone had the 2 stage break in on the early release or did mine just skip it for some strange reason?

Thanks

I was told that they have a limit on breakin. What do you think of the sled? I am thinking of getting one as well. Did you get a good deal on it?

Yeah thats what i was told and read in the manual but it seems mine didnt get the memo. So far it seems pretty good. Engagement is extremely smooth and very responsive throttle on the low end. Cant speak much for the power because i was really easy on the throttle. I got a decent deal on it. I paid $12700 plus gst from mountain's edge in Sundre.

I picked up a 2018 Mountain Cat electric start from the same place for 12,600 plus gst. Taking it for the first trip west on the 22 of this month.

I had read the same that the EB had different mapping, about 5 hp more than the production model. One of the dyno guys reported that, not sure if it made a noticeable difference between the 2 on the snow.

Do you think that they detune for the 4 year warranty?

No I think there were some throwing flames out the exhaust, and they went to a previous map. Warranty most likely had nothing to do with it. They know what the limits are for emissions and are trying to get max power and not exceed the limit. The ER map had to much fuel some where in it and was causing excess fuel in the exhaust. Quick easy solution less fuel/timing= less power. Personally I would not be concerned the Mountain Cats work very well. Does the 19 have more hp probably they had a year to map it better. Will the 20 be better yup and so on.

The dealer has to enter a pin into the sled to take it off break in mode. Or else they give you the PIN number when you buy it. My dealer had run the sled on the stand and took it off break in before I picked it up. Yes early builds had more power but they will reflash it if you take it for any work. They most likely already did this too as it was recommended by CAT. I rode mine in the alpine before and after the reflash and noticed no difference. Thing just keeps pulling. Have fun!

That's good to hear, they are an awesome sled. I am looking to upgrade this winter or maybe next fall, I might see what the 20 looks like before buying. That and I should sell my 16 first.
