So has anyone else noticed there is a big gap on their airbox screens?

Mine had the same problem, after Lund was inspecting his wife new Cat, he doesn't trust shops ever....LOL. He found this and called me to check mine in case and sure enough it was opening up.

So what did your dealer say? Cat has a fix coming?

Never took it to the dealer.
I have owned a lot of A/C's over the years and have learn't to do a thorough inspection before using them and things have never really changed that way for them IMO.
The final fit and finish of A/C has always been subpar and that carries on into the 18 models.
The plastics looks rough, like it was just takin out of the mold and assembled. The edging was never cleaned, so effecting fitment and general looks.
Wiring is also an issue on these because of poor assembling techniques.
You won't see that on Yamaha's, yet same chassis.
In this case the Frog Skin during assembling got contaminated by the installer on the sticky side. Most likely wasn't wearing neo gloves. Not much will actually stick to the plastics of the hood except the 3M sticky and the surface needs to be clean with alcohol. But only if it is not contaminated by oily fingers it will stick.
Obviously quality control is lacking and somebody doesn't give a poop.

I removed it using a little heat from a heat gun, then used contact cement to reinstall after cleaning the plastic surfaces with alcohol.

Yeah it's too bad Yamaha did make a two stroke engine in this chassis.
Probably an agreement with .

Ive owned a couple yamahas and the fit and finish wasnt any better, wires routed wrong and melted, plastics tweaked and melting on rear exit exhaust, panels that never fit quite right, speedo not sealed correctly from factory, yamahas are made by people to....... just little asian ones

On another note, my airbox and intakes are just fine on my mountain cat and other than a frog skin that had a corner not sticking right on a 14 sno pro limited ive never had an issue and have had every year of proclimb in our trailer over the years

snow ingestion scuffs the intake side of the piston

I realize some might not like the fact that there might be an issue with the intake frog skin on some A/C's but what Bnorth posted could be the end result.
I have personally repair two Cat's with this issue and know of four others that had to be repaired before they could be sent away with the customer's.
Non have ingested snow that we have repaired, maybe just lucky. But the next guy might not be so lucky.
